Waste Water pumping station renovations at west strand

Whitehaven

As part of a major study of the west cumbrian coast sewerage treatment schemes carried out my Halcrow for North West Water, Johnston and Wright Architects assisted with a detailed study of the existing pumping station at west strand to assess the feasibility of it's renovation to meet the needs of a modern pumping station to serve Whitehaven

The approved scheme, which requires a substantial amount of restoration has been made viable by the promise of grant aid from English Heritage and the European Regional Development Fund to preserve this fine example of Victorian architecture on the quayside which lies in the central conservation area.
