Johnston and Wright Architects worked in close consultation with Dr. Paul and Partners and Dr. MacKay and Partners to produce a new purpose designed joint group practice surgery, suited to their individual needs and with a view towartds future requirements. Each surgery has seperate accomodation; reception, waiting areas, consulting rooms, treatment room, health visitors clinic and administrative areas with shared facilities common to both Doctors' Practices. The project was completed in 1991 at a cost of £560,000. |
The completion of these facilities enabled the transfer of patients from the existing Derwent Ward, which was demolished. This in turn allowed us to design the new 25 bed Elderly Care Ward and Day Hospital with Terminal Illness Unit. This work, together with alterations to existing maternity department, commenced 1991/92 and was completed 1993/94.
The work was carefully phased to enable the hospital to maintain all services during contract periods, and including decanting of patients
A new extension to the delivery theatre suite and a new building for the ante-natal ward were also undertaken in the period 1992-1994.
The extension to the existing cottage hospital to provide occupational and physiotherapy rooms with some areas and day hospital facilities for East Cumbria Health Authority
The project was completed in 1990 for the fee of £337,000
